Pharmaceutical Emulsions
Pharmaceutical emulsions are dispersed systems in which one liquid phase is distributed as fine droplets within another immiscible liquid phase. They are widely used in pharmaceutical formulations such as fat emulsions, injectable emulsions, lipid-based drug delivery systems, and other emulsion-based products.
High pressure homogenization is commonly used for droplet size reduction, dispersion, and improved emulsion uniformity. Processing pressure, chamber configuration, formulation composition, and the number of passes can influence the final droplet size and particle size distribution.
